Yandex Cloud Functions
Serverless function-as-a-service that runs your code on demand with no VM management, billed per invocation and GB-hour of execution.

- Yes
Yandex Cloud Functions scores 4.4/10 for free value in Functions. The main constraint: Every month you get 1,000,000 function invocations plus 10 GB-hours of execution time free of charge, with pay-as-you-go pricing after that.

Key metrics
What you get
Permanent monthly free grant of 1,000,000 invocations + 10 GB-hours, not a one-time trial
Only invocations that actually run your code are billed (no charge for filtered calls)
Triggers (timer, message queue, object storage, etc.) are included free within quotas
Up to 8 GB RAM per instance and execution timeouts up to 1 hour for long-lived functions
Gotchas
- Monthly free allowance resets
The 1,000,000 invocations and 10 GB-hours are granted each month; any unused balance is reset at the end of the month and does not roll over.
- 10 GB-hours execution/month
Free execution time is capped at 10 GB-hours per month (memory in GB multiplied by runtime in hours); beyond this you pay the standard compute rate.
- Billing account required
A Yandex Cloud billing account is required to use the service; usage above the free grant is charged pay-as-you-go.
- Region-oriented (Russia)
Yandex Cloud is primarily oriented to the Russia region; availability, payment methods, and signup may be restricted depending on your location.
- 10 concurrent invocations per zone
Default quota of 10 concurrent function calls and 10 function instances per availability zone (increasable via support request).
- 10 functions per cloud
Default quota allows only 10 functions per cloud and 100 triggers per cloud (increasable via support request).
- 8 GB RAM, 20 GB total per zone
Maximum 8 GB RAM per function instance, with a default cap of 20 GB total RAM across all running functions per availability zone.
- 1 hour max execution time
Maximum execution time per call is 1 hour, but timeouts longer than 10 minutes are only available for long-lived functions; request/response JSON is capped at 3.5 MB and temporary files at 512 MB.
- Cold starts on idle
Functions scale to zero when idle and incur cold-start latency on the next call; keeping warm via provisioned instances is billable (and provisioned instances are limited to 2 per cloud by default).
