    Only one free service of each type (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Valkey) is allowed per organization.

  • No high availability

    Free plans run a single node with no HA, replication, or failover; not covered under Aiven's 99.99% SLA.

  • No VPC, static IPs, or integrations

    Free tier services cannot be placed in a VPC, cannot use static IPs, and have no integrations or service forking available.

  • No support services

    Free plans have no Aiven support coverage; users are on their own for incidents.

  • 1 GB RAM per service

    Each free service is capped at 1 GB RAM; this is a hard ceiling that resets only by upgrading.

  • 1 GB disk storage

    PostgreSQL and MySQL each get 1 GB disk; storage was reduced from 5 GB to 1 GB in May 2025.

  • 1 vCPU, shared resources

    Each free node is limited to 1 CPU and runs on shared cloud infrastructure with no guaranteed performance.

  • Idle shutdown possible

    Aiven reserves the right to power off free services it deems unused for some time, though it sends a notification first.

  • No Kafka, OpenSearch on free tier
