  • $1 LLM budget/month

    Built-in LLM token usage (for Claude Code / Codex harnesses) is capped at $1 per month; requests return 400 after that unless you BYOK.

  • 1-hour idle timeout

    Standard boxes auto-pause after 1 hour of inactivity; public URLs expire when paused, so inbound webhooks stop working until the box wakes on the next request.

  • No keep-alive boxes

    Always-on keep-alive boxes (required for persistent inbound webhooks or long-running daemons) are a paid-only feature starting at $8/month.

  • Single box size (Small only)

    The free tier is limited to Small box specs (2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 5 GB disk); Medium and Large sizes are pay-as-you-go only.

  • Single AWS region (us-east-1)

    All boxes currently run on AWS us-east-1 only; multi-region support is planned but not yet available on any tier.

  • No custom Docker images (coming soon)

    Custom Docker container support is planned but not yet available; you are limited to the built-in runtimes (Node.js, Python, Go, Ruby, Rust).

  • Developer Preview — pricing may change

    Upstash Box is in Developer Preview; APIs and pricing are explicitly subject to change, so the current free tier terms are not guaranteed to persist.
